Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2019

How Would/Does Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Congressman John Lewis, as well as others, Feel About Today’s Activism and The Civil Rights Movement? By Marjorie A. Gordon-DeLee, MA ( January 20, 2019)


Martin Luther King, Jr. was and still remain one of our greatest humanitarian leaders in the United States of America. It was Martin Luther King, Jr. who had the greatest impact on the person that I am on today. Dr. King had a kind, caring, and compassionate heart for not only the Black people even though he was a nonviolent person (as he stood by and saw his brothers and sisters brutally beaten by police officers), but had love in his heart for all of mankind.

It was the tone of his voice when he spoke, as an intellectual, that drew me in so closely into his messages which had a profound impact on my developmental growth as well. Also, Dr. King’s speeches provided me with a deep desire to get involved in the Civil Rights Movement (although my father would not allow me to at age 16) to make a difference in helping the poor impoverished people of my community, as we all were poor as well for the most part. To help anyone who needed assistance to have a better day and a better life. To show them that even thou those who held the power, wanted us to believe that we were not worthy to have a good life surrounded by peace, harmony, prosperity, and tranquility; it was Dr. King who encouraged and motivated the people to believe in themselves and to believe in their dreams. There was only God who could make any distinctions surrounding people and God wanted good for all of humanity, not just some and the White Supremacy wanted us all to believe that was in fact the case.


Dr. King propelled many people, not by bullying methods, but by his kind words which displayed all the love that he had in his heart for everyone, to get involve during the Civil Rights Movement to walk beside him and let everyone pitch in with force and do it all together demanding equal rights and justice for all, and for fair and equality treatment. We were asking for this right when it really should have been a given.


Nevertheless, over the past years, many of us have come to believe that our rights belonged to us from the time that we were being created in our mother’s wounds. Absolutely no one should have to ask anyone to grant them a right. Our human rights come automatically to us as a living breathing human being. But, those individuals of this nation who refuse to let go of the Slavery mentality, believing that they are superior to Black people and ALL other people of this human race. And, because they have that mentality, they are to take God-given power away from the races of people who are not within their circle (the Blacks, poor Whites, Mexicans, Muslims, Japanese, Chinese, and all other races). These White Supremacist and whatever other group of people that have this mindset, want to control all of society through the brain with the mind that they were born into this world with by changing our behaviors and characters. As adults, be totally honest with yourself, are you the same person that you were at the age of 15 (without the common-sense changes of course that was to occur regardless as we grew)? Do you possess the same moral compass and value system? Have you deviated at all? If so, think about the circumstances of your life at the time. What exactly was going on in your personal life?


Getting back on course, it was the Civil Rights Act that was enacted July 2, 1964, and most definitely did that year have a great impact on me as well as many other people in this world. We could begin to believe that we had a chance in this world. We would not be taken for granted by the color of our skin or the content of our character as stated in Dr. King’s August 28th, 1963 speech, “I have a dream”, and quoted as:


“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character”, reads the quote from King’s landmark 1963 “I have a dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington…”

To be judged by the content of our character, this is what Dr. King was telling the American people on that day in 1963 as is the word “character” is defined:
Character: charm, appeal, atmosphere, attractiveness, charisma, personality, eccentric, honor, integrity, strength, uprightness, reputation, moral fiber, temperament, and spirit. Of course, these words displayed are not all inclusive.
Personality: character, nature, behavior, disposition, temperament, traits, and qualities which all intertwine with the word “character’.

On today, how many people in this world have the ability to see just how far we have gone downward, fallen short of the dreams that Dr. King worked so hard to achieve for us in the past 50 plus years. What Dr. King wanted to be acknowledged, not from some people being acceptably judged (Whites only), but by all people who were displaying these suitable traits to carry out the moral mandates, God’s mission, and our purpose in this society.

Dr. King would be absolutely appalled now if he was here to see how many of our Black boys and girls; women and men. How many of the White race are being portrayed, how they are acting, How the employees on their jobs are cursing and swearing loud as if they are in the back of the woods. This is inappropriate and would not be acceptable behavior by Dr. King in no way shape or form. Dr. King, Congressman John Lewis and so many other Activist of our Civil Rights Movement leaders worked hard, was jailed numerous times, beaten, spit on, their homes were burned down just for the rights that many people have access to on today as if they worked and earned the positions that they have, therefore they are entitled to something that they did absolutely nothing for but destroy the efforts that Dr. King, and Congressman Lewis worked so hard for many people to have. Many people did not earn what they have, but they are making a mockery of Dr. King and Congressman Lewis’s activism work performed for the Black people. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day recognition has become a time (for most) of getting dressed up in suits, tuxedos, and gowns for a showing, to be on display (dancing and lots of over indulging) that is not what the Civil Rights Movement is about. What has further been accomplished since the Civil Rights Movement was enacted in 1963 for the Black community to strive even further in advancement than Dr. King has led us to? Nothing. We it has become is more materialistic, spending money profusely as if we were hiers to the Queen of England, and quite frankly Dr. King and Congressman Lewis fight for their people has become or is becoming a joke because this is how the White Supremacist want the Black people to see it. There should have been a plan since the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr that provided grave impacts and growth to the Black community constantly, maybe some of this homelessness could have been avoided.


What we should be doing during each and every recognition Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and all of the other Civil Rights Movement Activist each year is coming together with additional plans of action in helping the Black community to totally control their own lives without the assistance of many of the White race who could care less about our shelter, children, education, health care, or life in general. Therefore, all of you Black people who believe that you have arrived because you can drive an expensive car, have a 5000 square foot house, travel abroad, buy expensive jewelry because you are entitled to it due to the blood, sweat and tears of people who gave their lives and the sufferings of their families so that could have a better life, is dead wrong.


Answer this question, how have you contributed to the Black community since the enactment of the Civil Rights Movement in 1963? How much of your time have you dedicated to volunteering in the community to give a helping hand to someone else? I your life base upon what you can give back to humanity or what you can get from humanity with the lease amount of effort? If you cannot provide a sincere and honest answer to any of these questions that has made the life of a person, the life of a child, the life of your community better, then you have fallen short as to what your purpose here on this earth is, which is to give back to others, to build up your fellow man instead of tearing them down. That can easily be done by doing nothing.


People have been demonized, many have undesirable characters, personalities, integrity, morals and temperament that they are displaying each and every day in the public eye. These people have had their personalities changed and their character traits changed over the past 50 plus years and I can tell you all that is bad about a person, is not by a sincere choice. The content of the characters of people have been changed by the usage of a demonic attack. This has been launched against the citizens of this United States of America who has been hypnosis, brainwashed, mind controlling methods, witchcraft, and the casting of spells (documented sources are provided so do not take my word). It would appear that there are many people who have gotten possession of the ability to hypnotize, brainwash, cast spells, control minds of other people, and use witchcraft on other people as some sort of game they are playing with another person’s life. This is not what Dr. King wanted. All Dr. King dream of was that this nation would work together with peace and harmony to make humanity better.


Dr. King did not want this to happen to the people of this world. We are in a Spiritual Warfare, where Satan has taken over the minds of many of the people in this United States and in this world and their minds are being controlled to be an immoral person, lazy people, unintelligent people, and people of no worth is what Satan want people to appear to look like as if they are not fit to live in this society. These people were not raised in this manner and they need assistance. We cannot look over people as if they are not worthy, because we are all worthy and there is good in every human being.


It is not normal for an individual to walk amongst a group of people from many different races and yell out profanity at the top of their lungs, totally out of their minds like lunatics. For people to talk to themselves whilst walking along as if they are talking to another person. Walking around with their pants shagging with the waist of the pants at their knees (with and without belts at the time). Grandmothers who are doing booty dances in the streets who are 60, 70 and 80 years old. That is not in that grandmother’s character, she was not raised to act like that, neither has she always act out in that manner. This poor lady has had her mind transformed, and that is happening to all of the different races in this world.


So many people in the United States of America walking around homeless due to the effect of mindless thinking because their minds have been attacked by satanic forces beyond their ability to block. Watch this video:


https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwPa7b-3QLY. As a result of the attack on our citizens minds, massive homelessness is going on around the United States which research has revealed that there are 553,742 people experiencing homelessness and that was in a January 2017 report.


“The January 2017 Point-in-Time count, the most recent national estimate of homelessness in the United States, identified 553,742 people experiencing homelessness (endhomelessness.org)”.

I sat in a restaurant on today at the Union Station in Washington, DC using the Free Wi-Fi of the department store next door to this restaurant and there were three young Black women working there and a Black male patron that they knew I believe. These employees do not understand the concept of acting professional at all times when on the job and acting a little conservative when you are at home. We are not to bring our loud, vulgar mouth and mentality on the job. These employees were acting as if they were in their backyards having fun at a cookout. Unacceptable behavior people. This is not what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wanted and he and Congressman John Lewis and other Civil Rights Leaders fought for and was brutally beaten, killed, and went to jail so that you could have the right to work in these establishments, gaining a better education, walk into any store without being discriminated against, for the most part. Anyone who is not acting in accordance with what the leaders of this country fought for everyone to have equally (on your behalf), to have a better life, must change your ways of thinking and behaving in this society. Practice having better character and mannerism. You are not entitled to any of the pleasures, opportunities, or things of life that you currently have, because you did absolutely nothing to deserve it, because you did not fight as others, meaning your Civil Rights Activists who earned every single recognition that they have received.


This is not the only establishment that I, as well as others, have been experiencing this poor behavior from for many years which must end. We, as individuals, possess the abilities within us to change our poor behaviors. Yes, things happen beyond our control, but we must be able to be accountable for our poor behaviors and make that change when unequivocally necessary. If we do not change, things will change for you and about you without your control, so take heed to every word that I am telling all of you at this moment.


In Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech, in his “March on Washington”, he also made the following statements:


Five ~core years ago a great American in whose symbolic shadow we stand today signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree is a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But 100 years later the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later the life of the Negro is still badly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later the negro is still languished in the corner of American society and finds himself in exile in his own land. So, we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our Republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note which every American was to fall heir. His note was a promise that all men-yes black men as well as white men-would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ''insufficient funds.''

Dr. King made the above statements in 1963 when this passage indicated that it was then 100 years later and the Negro still is not free. Now it is over 50 years since Dr. King made this statement giving a total of 150 plus years. People, when are we going to say enough is enough and we are NOT going to stand for any mistreatment from any human being who believes that they have the right to grant anything that’s worth anything to us? That you need another human being’s permission to do whatever it is your human right to perform. One example would be our voices. Our freedom of speech that so many people refuse to speak up for themselves. My brothers and sisters, we must all come out of fear of retaliation from people who are not better than you nor I. Do not give them the power to believe that they do.


On this year as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day, think about the dream that he had for the American people and all the people around this world. Are we really living the dream that Dr. King wanted for the world? If not, what exactly do you see? Are the people of this world being judged by the content of their character? I would definitely have to say “Yes”. Lots of judging and lots of poor character decisions are being displayed. It is up to us to make up our minds to take a stand and make the right changes in our lives. The changes that matter for a better tomorrow. Take some time and just observe what is going on around you with the people and their appearances and their actions. Then, look in the mirror at yourself and tell yourself what you see. Do you see someone that you are proud to be with 24 hours per day, 7 days per week? If not, you know exactly what to do. Change that person poor behaviors, and begin to give something of value to others on a regular basis. It really does not matter if it is of a material value or if it is in your time, but do something with a kind and caring heart as Dr, King, Congressman Lewis and other Civil Rights Activists fought to achieve for their people. Us Blacks.

In conclusion, with all of the aforesaid, we must begin to plan from this day forth how each of us are going to make a contribution to our community and to this world each day. We must instill those same values into our children because it is a chain reaction. This is how steady, sustainable growth will occur that matter long term and will benefit many lives for the better in this society.
